Canadian Pacific Holiday Train

Original Painting - Acrylic on Canvas 12x16
The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train is North America's longest rolling food bank fundraiser and since it started in 1999, the program has raised close to $9.5 million and 3.3 million pounds of food. I’ll be there to watch it arrive in Sturtevant Wisconsin on December 7th. It’s on the same day as my class Art Show Reception, but should be able to attend both. What a great way to start the holiday season!

Birch Buddies

Original Painting - Acrylic on canvas 9x12

This is the last of the small tree studies that I demonstrated for my student artists. The way the larger birch leans drunkenly towards the other gave me the idea for the title. The birch tree outside my studio window is just beginning to change color. $300.00

Moose Rider

Original Painting - Acrylic on canvas 24x36

Here's an example of "Traditional with a Twist". I painted this traditional scene some time ago, but never felt satisfied with it. I removed it from the frame and studied it on my easel and thought about adding a moose. After sleeping on it, I had the answer ...a moose with a rider! The story unfolded as I painted. She has found the funeral platform of her grandfather with his shield and quiver of arrows hanging from a tree stump at the edge of the marsh. She says a prayer to the Great Spirit then turns and disappears into the darkening forest. Why is she nude and riding a moose? That's a whole 'nother story. Click on painting to enlarge. $2100.00

Technicolor Afternoon

Original Painting Acrylic on stretched canvas 20x16

I experimented with Primary Blue in this painting instead of my usual more subdued Ultramarine blue. It's a strong pigment but I think it was perfect for this tranquil nature scene. Available from the artist for $600.00

Winter Scene Painting, "The Skaters"

The Skaters
Original Painting 16x20 - Acrylic on Canvas
I painted this while the snow was falling outside my studio. Another big storm is headed our way tomorrow. The snow can be a real problem, but it sure is beautiful. I hope you enjoy this nostalgic winter scene just two days before Christmas.
