Times Square New Years Eve

Since 1907 Times square ball drop has played a prominent roll in celebrating and counting down the seconds to each New Year.  The Times Square ball drop is one of the best-known New Year's celebrations internationally. It is attended by at least 1 million spectators yearly and enjoys a national television audience across New Year's Eve specials on several networks.
 
The conclusion of the drop is followed by fireworks shot from the roof of One Times Square, along with the playing of "Auld Lang Syne" and Frank Sinatra's "Theme from New York, New York".
 
Around a billion people worldwide watch this event on television and over the Internet. I was one of them.

Cold rain and sleet form the backdrop for this painting of a small section of Milwaukee's HistoricThird Ward. People hurry along the wet pavement seeking the shelter of the large overhang and wish for an early spring.

Chicago Moon

A full moon over Chicago with the John Hancock Center in the foreground was a challenge and a learning experience. The moon was added midway through the painting and it controlled the painting from that point on. The sparkle and glitter of the city at night plus the moody sky combined for a dramatic show. Sometimes a painting lets you know what it needs if you just look and ask ...what if ? I'm glad I did. city scenes prints
